RESOURCES FOR CUSTOMERS
Multi-Factor Authentication
As part of our commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security, privacy, and compliance, AdvicePay is now requiring multi-factor authentication (MFA) for all users who login to our platform, including registered clients. We will be rolling out this new requirement to AdvicePay accounts in waves throughout July and August.
See below for answers to common questions about this enhanced security requirement.
To protect your data and comply with industry best practices, we’re strengthening your account security with MFA. It adds an extra layer of security beyond your password.
MFA rollout begins in July and will be required for all users by the end of August.
Opting out is not available. This is a required security update for all AdvicePay users, including clients with registered accounts.
You can verify your login via Email, Text Message (SMS), or App (Google or Authy). Choose the method that works best for you.
To set up SMS or App MFA (or to opt-in to Email now), follow the instructions in this Knowledge Base article.
If you don’t take action before your firm’s rollout date, you’ll automatically be enrolled in Email MFA later this summer. You can always switch methods later.
Yes, we’ve made it easy for you to communicate the change. Copy and paste the email template below and adjust the language to suit your clients' needs.
Clients will also see in-app messages over the next few weeks with instructions to help them proactively set up their preferred MFA method.

Hi {client name},
As part of AdvicePay's commitment to maintaining the highest standards of security and privacy, all logins will now require multi-factor authentication (MFA). This requirement will begin rolling out to accounts in July, and all accounts will require MFA by the end of August.
You can opt-in to MFA now with the settings in your AdvicePay profile. When you enable MFA early, you'll be able to choose between using Email, Text Message (SMS) or App (Google or Authy) to verify future logins.
If you don't set up MFA now, you'll automatically be enrolled in Email MFA later this summer – but you always can update to another method later.
Best,
